Women's Bowling Varsity and JV Victories Highlight Weekend at Storm Baker Challenge

Addison, Ill.     This past weekend the Judson Eagles came away with a Championship sweep winning both the Women's Varsity and Women's JV at the Storm Baker Challenge.

What a weekend for all the Lady Eagles. On the Lady's Varsity side, Judson was able to knock off two top-10 ranked teams in the country on their way to victory. After 40 games of Baker, the ladies qualified third overall and had to take on #2 seed St Xavier in a best of 5 baker match. The ladies were able to sweep them 3-0 with 176-163, 189-171, and 202-198 victories. Tje Eagles then took on the #1-seeded Davenport University for the championship. The ladies put up a dominating game 1 victory 266-218 in which they threw 10 strikes. Match 2 was over early 214-148 to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 match. Game 3 had Davenport win a nail-biter 181-179 to make it a 2-1 match. In game 4, it was another tight game the Lady Eagles came up big with strikes by freshman Paige Carpenter in the 9th and Sophomore Chloe Siezega in the 10th to lock up the championship 193 to 171.

On the Women's JV side, the team was able to put up one of the most dominating performances in school history as they led the field after qualifying by 354 pins over 2nd place at St. Ambrose University. The energy this group had all tournament was fantastic while using multiple lineups all weekend. This performance as the #1 seed took them right to the finals where they faced off against #2 seed St. Ambrose. At this point, all pins were dropped from qualifying and the championship is decided by a best-of-5 baker match. This team went down 2-0 in losing the 1st 2 games 157 to 154 and 170 to 137. In game 3 they bounced back and won 167 to 147 and put game 4 away early winning 186-135. At this point, it came down to game 5 in which they were able to win 165-to-139 to take home the Championship.
