Judson Bowling Concludes 2022-2023 Season at ITC Sectionals
Addison, IL This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the USBC ITC Sectionals event.
On the Ladies' side, the Eagles came away with the highest finish in school history with a seventh-place finish. The team started slowly and had to dig their way out of a major hole after the first 16-game baker block as we were sitting in 14th place. In the second set of 16 baker games, the ladies started to pull things together with a 16-game total of 3074 which placed seventh for that block and moved the team up to 11th overall after day 1. In the second set, we were able to put together games of 222,199, 248, 210, and 213 consecutively to make that jump 4 places in the standings. Heading into day 2 the team was able to bowl much better in the morning block in which our block was 210 pins better than the morning block on Saturday. Finishing the morning block with games of 229, 196, and 194 allowed for another block finish of seventh and ninth place overall. The last block brought the highest set of the tournament with games of 190, 189, 257, and 231 for an 867 total. During that block, we also had strings of 205, 207, 211, 191, 204, and 201, 203, 199, 185, and 209 to close things out. In the final set, we had the fourth-highest total in the field which allowed us to finish in seventh overall. This team showed tremendous resilience in moving up from 15th to seventh. The team's grand total for the 64 games was 11,893 for an average of 185.82 for the weekend. This team doesn't have any seniors and all players will be back next season to make another run at getting to ITC Nationals. The future is bright for this young team.
On the Men's side, the Eagles came away with an 11th-place finish. The team started a bit slow as well but was able to finish the morning block on day 1 with games of 267, 201, 176, 234, and 227. This put the Eagles in 11th place after the morning block. Heading into the afternoon block the team started to put things together with games of 215, 207, 233, 187, and 227 to start and lead to the team moving up to ninth place after day 1. At the start of day 2 things were looking great as block 1 started with games of 209, 212, 219, and 260 which moved the team into fifth overall. Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to maintain that momentum as the day progressed, and after 3 sets the team was in 10th overall. Heading into the last 16 games of Baker the team again came out strong with games of 212, 234, 191, and 235 for an 872 set and things were looking up. Again, in set 2 the team stayed consistent with games of 184, 198, 213, and 207. Set 3 of the final day is where we were unable to adjust to the transition and started to struggle. Heading into the last 4 games the team was able to stick together and finish strong with games of 209 and 200. The team's grand total for the 64 games was 12,540 for an average of 195.93 for the weekend. This team we only be losing 1 player and has an extremely bright future with the core group we have here as well as with some top talent coming in next season.
We want to also give a shout-out to Senior Blaine Hunt who had one of the best statistical seasons by an Eagle in school history. He will be missed, and we wish him nothing but the best with the next step in his life's journey.
This concludes a season for our Eagles with many ups and downs but also many great memories that will last a lifetime.
