Impressive Performances Across the Board for the Eagles
What a weekend for the Judson Eagles Bowling Program.
On the Women's side, the Judson Eagles Women's varsity team also had a very strong showing as well finishing 5th. Freshman standout Paige Carpenter was able to make the all-tournament team in her first appearance as an Eagle as she finished 4th with a 192 average. Also, just outside the top 5 was Sophomore Chloe Siezega who finished in 6th place with a 188 avg. This team had a big game 4 of qualifying with a 963 to keep them in the hunt and maintain their top 5 finish. Paige Carpenter also had a tremendous single pin % for the weekend of 21 for 21 for a perfect 100%. Chloe Siezega also was stellar at 23 for 25 for 92%. Other contributors from the weekend were Junior Tina Tindall (159 avg), Sophomore Brandy Stewart (158 avg), Sophomore Kaylee Mann (152 avg), and Sophomore Marisa Garcia.
On the Women's JV1 side they made it back-to-back as they defended their title and took home the Championship.. Led by Freshman standout Demi Kontos who finished 11th individually with a 181 average and Junior Neena Dingillo who finished 17th with a 177 average. This team led the tournament wire to wire. After day 1 they had a 95-pin lead on the field and never looked back. This team showed tremendous energy and heart throughout the tournament as well as terrific team chemistry which led to the victory. Demi Kontos also had a solid 83% single pin % as well as Michele Chancey at 80%. Other contributors for the weekend were freshman Darian Mobley (169 avg), Sophomore Kaitlynn Pillion (161 avg), Sophomore Michele Chancey (151 avg), and Sophomore Sydney Melton. Kudos also to JV coach Craig Keith as this is his 3rd title to his credit.
On the Men's side, the Judson Eagles Varsity men made a strong push on day 2 to finish 4th. This team WON the baker portion of the tournament by 128 pins and beat the eventual winners by 231 pins…they averaged 206 as a team during Baker... Led by Senior Blaine hunt who finished 10thindividually with a 206 average. In the day 2 Baker format this team started on fire, shooting sets of 853 and 967 which jumped them into the top 5. Freshman Alex Kouvelas also had a fantastic Multi-pin spare % of 89% and Blaine hunt was solid with a 78% rate. Other contributors from the weekend were Freshman Alex Kouvelas (190 avg), Jimmy Kontos (185 avg), Owen Farish (174 avg), Phillip Heuser (172 avg), and Sebastian Beth. Coach Don Anderson was extremely impressed with the team's communication and chemistry throughout the tournament.
The Men's JV1 had a great weekend finishing 2nd overall. Led by Seniors Avery Evans (187 avg) and Brandon Beto (186 avg) as well as Freshman Griffin Roake (186 avg). This team had the lead for 4 games on Saturday and made a strong push Sunday to maintain a second-place finish. This team had a high team game of 973 which put them into 1st place at the time. Freshman Griffin Roake also had an outstanding single pin % of 92%. First-year Coach Kirk Reusch mentioned that this team worked together well and can build off this strong performance. Other contributors from the weekend were Junior Tom Antonson (177 avg) and Junior Anthony Gutierrez (155 avg).
The Men's Jv2 team also showed signs of growth with a 10th-place finish. Led by Freshman Derrick Robinson Jr with a 174 avg. Other contributors from the weekend were Freshman Adan Cabezudo (167 avg), Sophomore Matt Sipes (166 avg), Sophomore AJ Paige (146 avg), and Freshman Connor Richmond. Thank you to Coach Craig Frankel who stepped in to lead this team over the weekend.
All our teams learned and grew this weekend and that is what we were looking for heading into the Midwest Collegiate Classic Tier 1 event this weekend.
