Judson Bowling Program Returns From Holiday Break with Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Classic
Addison, Ill. This past weekend the Judson Eagles had another strong showing as they competed at the Kegel/ ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic.
The Kegel/ ISBPA tournament is one of the biggest Tier 1 events in the country where over 130 Men's and Women's teams compete.
On the Women's Varsity side, the Lady Eagles ended with an 11th-place finish against an extremely talented field of 62 of the best Ladies' teams in the country. This is the highest finish in team history at this event. The team had 4 ladies that averaged over 190 for the first 5 games of the competition. Freshman standout Demi Kontos led the way with a 194 average and was a perfect 18/18 on her single pins for the entire tournament. Demi also had an outstanding multipin percentage of 75%. Sophomore Michele Chancey averaged 193.8 for the first 5 games and was solid with 88.8% on single pins and a spectacular multi-pin rate of 78.5% as well as the highest fill percentage for the weekend of 83.5%. Freshman standout Paige Carpenter continued her solid performances as she averaged 192.6 for the weekend and a multipin percentage of 69.2%. Sophomore Chloe Siezega averaged 192.6 for the weekend with a strike percentage of just under 50%. On day 2 Sophomore Brandy Stewart who worked her way back on the varsity roster had one of her best performances to date. Brandy was 88.2% on single pins and 80% on multi pins in the Baker side of the event. Junior Tina Tindall after not bowling at all on Saturday came up big on Sunday recording the highest strike % on the team at 51.43%. Freshman Darian Mobley came off the bench Saturday and had a solid 191 games to help the team. Junior Neena Dingillo started the day with a solid 173 and contributed throughout the weekend with her leadership and her selfless attitude toward the team.
On the Men's Varsity side, the Eagles came away with a top 35th-place finish. Senior standout Blaine Hunt had another outstanding performance as he averaged 226 on day 1 and went 23/23 on single pins and 14/15 on multi pins for a 97.3% rate for all makeable spares. Freshman standout Phil Heuser averaged 207 for his 3 games on Saturday which gave the team a big boost off the bench. Freshman Alex Kouvelas also came off the bench to average 197 and had his best tournament performance on single pins as he was a perfect 10/10. Sophomore Jimmy Kontos continues to be solid as he averaged 198.8 and had a solid 88.47% on single pins. Sophomore Sebastian Beth had another outstanding single-pin percentage of 94.44%. Sophomore Owen Farish carried a solid 83.33% on single pins and Junior Tom Antonson contributed to the team's success as well. Freshman standout Griffin Roake got injured on Friday so he was unable to compete this weekend. Griffin supported the team selflessly all weekend and was vital to keeping the energy going for the team.
The Eagles head into the Storm Baker Challenge this coming weekend at Stardust in Addison, IL.
