History Made For Judson Bowling At Midwest Collegiate
What a weekend for the Judson Eagles Bowling Program.
In the first tier 1 event of the season, the Judson Eagles Varsity Men made history with a fantastic team performance as well as had the best individual performance by any athlete in program history. On Saturday the Men's team posted games of 1003, 1043, 1026, 1102, 1048, and 1031. For the first time in school history, the team has been able to have 6 straight 1000+ games in qualifying. This allowed us to be sitting in 9th place after day 1 out of the 49-team field of the best college programs in the country. On day 2 the team kept up its blistering pace in the Baker format with sets of 880, 886, 860, and 715. This allowed us to make the bracket match play finishing in 7th overall. We then faced Calumet in a best of 3 baker format but unfortunately came up short and lost 2-0 which ended our run. Senior standout Blaine Hunt put on an absolute clinic posting the highest and best finish as an Individual in Judson Bowling History shooting games of 257, 258, 202, 225, 248, and 258 for a 1448 total and a 241.3 average.. Sophomore standout Jimmy Kontos also had a fantastic weekend with games of 175, 223, 227, 182, 258, and 248 for a 218.3 average. Freshman Phillip Heuser came off the bench to add a spark with games of 222, 212, 224, and 165 for a 205 average. Other contributors were Sebastian Beth (198 avg), Alex Kouvelas (187 avg) Owen Farish, Thomas Antonson, and Griffin Roake.
This was a total team effort and the sky is the limit for this team.
On the Women's side, the Judson Eagles Women's varsity team had a tough weekend finishing 23rd. Sophomore Chloe Siezega led the team in average at 180 for the weekend. Freshman standouts Paige Carpenter and Demi Kontos had strong weekends as they continue to get experience in tournament competitions. Paige had a 94% single pin conversion percentage and Demi was at 88% for the weekend. The Lady Eagles were able to move up in the standings from day 1 to day 2 as they went on a run in the baker portion of the event with consecutive games of 234, 222, 204, and 209 this also included a season-high 4 game set of 822. This team continues to show signs of growth as they are an extremely young squad with zero seniors and only 3 juniors. Other contributors from the weekend were Neena Dingillo (163 avg), Kaylee Mann (160 avg), Marisa Garcia (78% multipin %), Michele Chancey (153 avg), and Tina Tindall (157 avg).
We need to keep the momentum going as we head into the Boilermaker Classic in Lafayette, at the end of October.
