Eagles Continue Roll With Another Good Finish
Moline, IL - This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the Leatherneck Classic in Moline, IL.
The Lady Eagles are continuing to make a major impact on the College Bowling Landscape! Heading into the weekend they were ranked 12th in the nation and this past weekend they were able come away with the highest finish in Program history at the highly prestigious Leatherneck Classic finishing 4th out of 34 of the top college programs in the nation!
On Saturday the team finished qualifying in 4th place and had a team high game of 973 on this very demanding lane condition in which scores were low across the board.
Starting slow Sunday with a 673 baker set which dropped them to 6th the team bounced back with sets of 763, 793, and 735 which placed them solidly in 4th. This then set us up for our first ever top 8 Leatherneck Bracket appearance in program history! In the round of 8 the ladies were able to take down Davenport 2-1 to advance to the FINAL FOUR! The next match was against Mount Mercy which is currently ranked #2 in the country! After taking game 1 with a nice 213 game the team ran into some difficulties and ending up losing the match 2-1 to finish 4th!
The team was led by Sophomore standout Paige Carpenter who finished 9th overall with an average of 199 for the weekend including a high game of 238! Paige was also outstanding in her spare shooting where she was 88.8% on single pins and an astounding 90.48% on multipins going 19 of 21 for the weekend as she anchored all day during baker competition.
Junior Michele Chancey had another fantastic tournament in which she finished 15th overall with a 194 average while carrying a 84% single pin % and a 88.9% multipin percentage for the weekend! Senior Tina Tindall came in off the bench in game 3 to make a major impact and shot 407 for her 2 games for an average of 203.5! Sophomore Demi Kontos had another solid weekend in averaging 176 for the weekend and a solid 82% on single pins.
Junior Chloe Siezega who struggled day 1 came back strong day 2 in bakers and still was able to go 18 for 20 on single pins for 90% and she struck 41% of the time for the weekend. Junior Brandy Stewart who didn't get into the lineup on Saturday came up big on Sunday during baker games as she was 100% on single pins and 78% on multipins spares. Brandy currently ranks 4th in overall fill % for the season during baker and 2nd in multipin percentage at 79%!!
Sophomore Darian Mobley and Junior Isabell Cooley were also solid contributors all weekend longl!
The Eagles take to the lanes again in 3 weeks at the Warhawk Open in Addison , Illinois!
