Eagles Finish Top-3 For Second Straight Week
Cedar Rapids, IA - This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the Kohawk Invite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On the Men's Varsity side, the Eagles came away with a 3rd place finish. Day 1 of competition was solid with games of 999, 969, 999, 927, 1091 the Eagles were able sit in 3rd place and maintain that to the end of the tournament. Sophomore Phil Heuser led the way with games of 197, 232, 202, 214, and 243 for a 217.6 average and a 10th place individual finish! Phil had a fantastic single pin percentage of 95% and multipin percentage of 81.25% and struck an awesome 54% of the time!
After a slow start Junior James Kontos shot games of 205, 267, 178 and 192 for a 199 average and he also had a 89% single pin percentage for the weekend. Junior Sebastian Beth had another solid weekend and had a high game of 231 and a strike percentage of 48%. Sophomore Griffin Roake came off the bench to finish strong with a 236 game and had an astounding multipin spare percentage of 88%!
Freshman Caleb Parent continues to make an impact whenever called upon as he came in off the bench and shot a solid 215 game and combined spare shooting stats of 10/11 for the weekend. Sophomore Eric Roberts was solid with 82% on single pins and Senior Captain Thomas Antonson shot 211 game 1 and was 67% on multipins.
On the Men's JV1 side we were able to finish with a 6th place finish! The team posted the highest JV team game in Judson Bowling History with 1120 for game 2. Games of 210 (Connor Richmond), 247 (Caleb Vergona, 236 (Brendan Jones), 212 (Adan Cabezudo), and 215 (Anthony Gutierrez) got the job done! Led by Sophomore Connor Richmond with games of 181, 210, 203, 189, and 213 and an average of 199 and ended with a multipin percentage of 78%!
Sophomore Adan Cabezudo had his best tournament of his college career! Adan had games of 172, 212, 179, 221, and 178 for a 193 for the weekend. Adan also led all players in single pin percentage as he was 16/16 and a perfect 100%! Freshman Brendan Jones came off the bench with a huge 236 game and averaged 186 for thew weekend and also struck 43% of the time on the weekend. Junior Anthony Gutierrez had a single pin percentage of 80% and multi percentage of 76%. Freshman Caleb Vergona had a huge 247 game 2 and a multipin percentage of 74%!
Junior Matthew Sipes was 86% on single pins and struck 40% of the time for the weekend and Senior Logan Shears was 67% on his single pins for the weekend.
Next up is the last regular season tournament of the season at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, IN!
