Eagles Swoop In On Strikes In First Event
Rockford, IL - The Judson Men's bowling squad competed in their first meet of the season at the Golden Eagle Invite. The Judson Eagles Varsity men finished 9th on the weekend! Junior Standout Sebastian Beth finished 8th overall with a 210 average! Sebastian also had a stellar single pin percentage of 91.30% (21/23). Sophomore standout Phil Heuser finished 11th with a 206 average and was at 86% on single pins and 68% on multipins!
Junior Standout Jimmy Kontos averaged 191 for the weekend and led the team in single pin percentage at 95.24% (20/21). Top Transfer Eric Roberts had a solid 1st tournament as an Eagle averaging 180 for the weekend. Senior Tom Antonson averaged 175 and had an overall fill percentage of 73%. Freshman standout Caleb Vergona who led our tryouts this season saw limited playing time but was a positive teammate throughout competition and has a bright future ahead!
The Men's JV1 had a great weekend finishing 7th overall! Led by Sophomore standout Griffin Roake who averaged 197.4 for the weekend finishing Saturday with games of 213 and 223! Freshman standout Caleb Parent bounced bag after a tough game to shoot 231 the last game on Saturday to really help the team. Those 2 games helped them finish with the team's high game of the day of 941. Senior Anthony Gutierrez also bounced back after a slow start to end with a single pin percentage of 78.26%. Freshman standout and 2 sport athlete Brenden Jones had a solid performance overall as well as Sophomore Connor Richmond who continues to improve and finished with a single pin percentage of 70.1%.
The Men's Jv2 team also showed signs of growth with a top 20 finish! Led by Sophomore Adan Cabezudo with a 166.80 avg. Other contributors from the weekend were Junior Matt Sipes (155 avg), Senior and 2 soprt athlete Max Freund (152 avg), Junior Aaron Paige (127 avg), and Sophomore Ryan Schaefer (123 avg).
Per Coach Biondo, "All our teams learned and grew this weekend and that is what we were looking for heading into the Midwest Collegiate Classic Tier 1 event this weekend"!
