Eagles Pick Up Match Sweep On Senior Day
Elgin, IL - The Judson University Men's Tennis team played their third match of conference at home against St. Ambrose. The Eagles came out flying on senior night with #3 pair Jerez Rinehart and Niel Hentrich winning 6-3, this was further added to by #2 pair Chadd Kerrigan and Alexandre Veltkamp who won 6-2 to clinch the doubles point. On court 1, Bolivian pair Cesar Otondo Villafan and Nicolas Donoso also finished victors with a 6-4 win.
Carrying the momentum, senior #1 Alexandre Veltkamp quickly added to the Eagles lead winning 6-0 6-2, this was further compiled by #2 Chadd Kerrigan winning 6-1 6-2 giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Despite a tightly contested first set #3 Joshua Bavich pulled away ultimately overpowering his opponent 6-3 6-0 to seal the match for the Eagles.
Other highlights came from #4 Julius Fortun convincingly winning 6-0 6-2 in his match, and also #5 Niel Hentrich winning 6-0 6-2. Having the final say on senior night was senior, #6 Jerez Rinehart who swiftly finished the day with a 6-0 6-2 win handing the Eagles their 3rd clean sweep of the season.
The Eagles will look to finish their conference campaign strong before the tournament with matches against Olivet Nazarene on Tuesday 16th and St Francis on Saturday 20th.
