Judson Football Begins Program Strongly with Great Atmosphere and Four Second Half Touchdowns

Carpentersville, Ill. The Judson University Football Program launched tremendously on Saturday as the debut game occurred at Dundee-Crown High School. The evening began with honoring Ted Scislowski who made a significant financial contribution to help launch the football program. Following a prayer by Pastor of Faculty and Staff Elliott Anderson, the introductions were made and the game began.

Judson's defense played well as the Eagles only allowed 335 total yards in the contest. However, Taylor did make the most of turnovers and quick drives to score 14 points in the second quarter. Judson's first-ever touchdown was recorded in the third quarter as Dakari Ferguson caught a pass from Aubrey Williams to score from 31 yards out. Judson would add another third-quarter score on a Brandon Mackey 13-yard rush. In the fourth quarter, Judson scored on an Aubrey Williams six-yard touchdown rush with 13 minutes to play, while later in the quarter, O'Vauntay Vickers scored on an 18-yard touchdown reception from Williams. Vickers scored the conversion via a pass from Williams to get the Eagles to 26 points.

The Eagles had 447 offensive yards. Williams had 337 passing yards in the contest with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Mackey led the way with 85 yards rushing. Vickers had 107 yards receiving on 7 receptions to lead the Eagles. On defense, DeMarius Farmer led the Eagles with eight tackles. David Dunbar had seven tackles, while Franklin Sayers had five.

"[The atmosphere] was awesome," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "It was three years in the making. Some could say it was 58 years in the making depending on how you wanted to look at it. Our guys balled out. We did not know how our guys were going to respond. They had a lot of seniors and juniors playing, we had a lot of freshmen, some sophomores, and some guys mixed in. We told them that we need to be in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter, and we were in that position. The game was something to build on. I'm proud of our guys and am excited about where it is going. It is something to build on. I'm proud of our guys and I'm excited about where it was going."

Judson faces Concordia University-Wisconsin on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
