Miller-Siebens Connect for Two Scores, Sayers stellar on Defense in 51-19 Loss to #20 St. Francis (IN)

Ft. Wayne, IN     The Judson University Football team concluded its two-game road trip against MSFA east opponents on Saturday as the Eagles fell to St. Francis 51-19.

St. Francis outscored the Eagles 13-0 in the opening frame. Judson pulled within six after Alex Siebens had a seven-yard touchdown reception from Christian Miller. St. Francis would score three unanswered times to end the first half and begin the third quarter. Judson then scored its second touchdown of the game with an eight-yard Siebens reception from Miller to make the score 30-13. The Cougars scored another touchdown before the end of the third quarter. Judson answered with an early fourth-quarter score from O'Vauntay Vickers on a 25-yard reception from Miller. St. Francis scored two touchdowns prior to the end of the game.

Miller was 16-37 in the contest with 177 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Brandon Mackey had 43 yards on the ground, including a 16-yard scamper for the team's longest run of the contest. Negil Bruce had 23 yards on seven attempts. O'Vauntay Vickers had 66 yards on seven receptions, including a team-high 46-yard reception. Siebens finished the contest with 51 total yards on five catches. Mackey had 27 yards receiving in the contest as well.

Trey Sayers led the team with 15 total tackles (7 solo-8 assisted), a forced fumble, and an interception.  Jontrell Mitchell had 12 (6-6), a sack, and a fumble recovery. Camren Carter had 12 tackles (5-7), including a tackle for a loss and a breakup. Chance Cregeen had nine solo tackles for the Eagles, along with a forced fumble, while Mitrez Rawls had eight total tackles (2-6) and a pair of breakups. Josh Mason (4-2) had six total tackles, including a tackle for a loss. Malik Rowe (2-2) had a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery, while Jacob Slonski had three total tackles (1-2), including a tackle for a loss.

"We played really hard against a very good team," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "We had some opportunities to make plays that we missed on both sides of the ball. St. Francis is as good as their ranking. We've got to clean up the mistakes and do the little things to beat a team like that. We improved a lot from last game, and the team responded to my challenge of coming out playing hard for 4 quarters."

Judson hosts Madonna next Saturday for homecoming beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Streamwood High School in Streamwood, IL.
