Eagles' Defense Forces Three St. Xavier Turnovers in 52-6 Loss to #11 Cougars
Streamwood, IL. The Judson University Eagles defense highlighted Saturday's game with four takeaways in a 52-6 loss to St. Xavier on Saturday. The Eagles recovered two fumbles and had an interception in the second quarter.
Offensively, Judson was able to cross the goal line early in the second quarter when O'Vauntay Vickers caught a four-yard pass from Christian Miller to cap a 10-play, 63-yard drive that took nearly five minutes. Vickers was Judson's top offensive performer as he had seven catches for 63 yards and a score. Sherond Boyd led the rushing game with 57 yards on 21 attempts. Christian Miller threw for 134 yards of 20 completions with a touchdown and two interceptions.
Noah Solis made the most of his first college start defensively as he had eight tackles (six solo, two assisted), a forced fumble, a breakup, and a tackle for a loss. Ryan Otey had five tackles (4-1) and had an interception. Jontrell Mitchell (3-2) had five total tackles and a fumble recovery. Troynell Rivers Jr. had four solo tackles, including a tackle for a loss. Clifton Jimerson and Chance Cregeen each had a half tackle for a loss. Cregeen also had a fumble recovery for the Eagles.
"St. Xavier is a really good football team," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "Coach Feminis and his staff have built a program that is the class of the MSFA. It is a model of what we are working to build here. I'm proud of the way our guys played today. They played hard for all four quarters and continued to fight. Our defense came out and played opportunistic defense with three takeaways in the first half. St. Xavier just had too much talent for us today."
Judson (1-7, 0-5 MSFA-MW) faces Missouri Baptist on November 5 at 1:00 p.m. in Streamwood.
