Judson Scores Early on Rawls' Pick Six in 45-16 Loss to St. Francis

Streamwood, Ill.     The Judson University Football Team got on the board early thanks to a defensive score as the Eagles fell to St. Francis 45-16.

Judson scored within the game's first six minutes when Mitrez Rawls had a 68-yard interception return for a score to give the Eagles the early 8-0 lead (Brandon Mackey scored on the two-point conversion attempt). Judson bookeneded the game's scoring with a Mackey one-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to cap a five-play, 87-yard drive (Keionta Fox catches 2-point conversion attempt).

Mackey led the team in rushing once again with 62 yards on the ground with a score. Sherond Boyd had two rushes for 29 yards. O'Vauntay Vickers was the leading reciever with five catches for 61 yards. Jordan West had two catches for 54 yards including a 49-yard connection. Keionta Fox had two carches for 42 yards in addition to the two-point conversion. Isaiah Carillo got the start at quarterback and was 2-5 for 22 yards. Christian Miller came in relief with 140 yards passing completing 10 of 23 passes.

Bryce Heerey led the team with 7 tackles (six solo, one assist) including two tackles for a loss and a sack. Clifton Jimerson added his presence with seven total tackles (4-3) with one sack and 2.5 tackles for a loss. Chance Cregeen had seven total tackles (4-3) with a half-sack and one tackle for a loss. Caleb Williams had six solo tackles for Judson. Jontrell Mitchell had four tackles (2-2) including a half-sack and 1.5 tackles for a loss. Josh Mason had two tackles for a loss among his four total (3-1). Jaylan Trice had one tackle for a loss as well.

"We played a lot better today, especially defensively," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "The defensive line and linebackers played great and were all over the field. We had a couple of coverage breakdowns that cost us, but our defense played really well. On offense we struggled to execute the simple things. It's almost impossible to win a game with five turnovers. We need to clean things up offensively and ons special teams. We need to put a game together where all three phases are playing well at the same time."

Judson (1-5, 0-3 MSFAMW) travels to Arlington Heights to face Roosevelt next Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
