Mackey Continues to Dominate on the Ground in 58-22 loss to St. Ambrose

Mackey Continues to Dominate on the Ground in 58-22 loss to St. Ambrose

Davenport, IA      The Judson University Football Team played its second MSFA West contest on Saturday as the Eagles fell to St. Ambrose 58-22.

The highlight of the game was Brandon Mackey's rushing once again as he ran for 191 yards on 25 carries and had two scores. It's the third straight week that Mackey recorded 190+ rushing yards on the season. In addition, Mackey had four receptions for 28 yards, also marking the third straight game with 200+ total yards of offense.

Judson got on the board in the third quarter at the five-minute mark when Mackey began the Eagles drive with a 61-yard touchdown rush (failed two-point attempt). The Eagles scored once again with 10 minutes remaining in the contest when Alex Siebens was on the receiving end of Isaiah Carillo's first collegiate touchdown pass (Vickers two-point conversion). Six minutes later, Mackey scored on a 44-yard rush (Vickers two-point conversion) to round out the Judson scoring.

In addition to the pair of two-point conversions, Vickers had six receptions for 64 yards. Siebens had two receptions for 42 yards along with his touchdown catch. Carrillo led the passing attack by completing 12 of 18 passes for 106 yards and a score. Christian Miller was 1-4 for 33 yards in the game.

Caleb Williams made 15 total tackles in the contest (5 solo, 10 assisted), including a tackle for a loss. Chance Cregeen had 10 tackles (4, 6) including a sack. Bryce Heerey made seven tackles (2, 5) including a sack and two tackles for a loss. EJ Glover (3, 4) and Mitrez Rawls (6, 1) made seven tackles apiece. Clifton Jimerson made four tackles (3, 1) including a sack and two tackles for a loss.

"St. Ambrose wanted that game more than we did, hats off to them," said Head Coach Dan Paplaczyk. "They came out and took control of the game from the start. We made too many mistakes in all three phases and they capitalized. Losing Trey and Farmer last week has left a hole on the defensive side of the ball. We need more guys to step up and work together to fill that void. Brandon had another phenomenal game, but he can't be our only one. More guys need to step it up and we have to start executing when we have opportunities."

Judson (1-4, 0-2 MSFAW) hosts St. Francis on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Streamwood.
