Carter Wins Hurdles, Rodriguez Wins Racewalk at CCAC Championships
Davenport, IA The Judson University Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams participated in the CCAC Championships this weekend as both teams finished with fifth place finishes. There were several individual athletes who had significant victories and achievements this weekend.
For the women, Beth Rodriguez won the women's racewalk and hit the national qualifying time as her final time was 17:08.49. Cassandra Uribe broke the school record in the 60-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter races. In the 60, Uribe ran an 8.07 time to finish 10th, in the 200, she finished with a 26.39 time in the prelims and finished in eighth. In the 400, she had a 59.75 time and finished in 4th.
Kasey Moreno was the leader in women's scoring with 11 points. She was an all-conference in the 5k race with a time of 19:01.29, while she finished fourth in the mile with a 5:27.96 time. The women's 4x800 team (Elisabeth Kania, Ella Richter, Mckinze Kearfott, and Eva Serrato) placed third with a time of 10:12.94.
For the men, Camren Carter took home the CCAC 60m hurdles title with an 8.24 time. Ian Wiggan broke the school record in the 200-meter dash with a 22.77 time in the prelims. The men's 4x800 team (Chase Ashcraft, Carlos Miranda, Jaret Godinez, and Juan Villagomez) finished in third with a time of 8:30.44.
"I'm really proud of how the team competed over the two days," said Head Coach Cam Knudsen. "Many athletes competed two or three times and the performances kept getting better as the meet went on. We're looking forward to Cam and Beth representing us at NAIA nationals in two weeks."
The NAIA Nationals occur March 2-4 in Brookings, SD.
