Bourbonnais, Ill. The Judson University Softball Team played its final CCAC regular season contests on Tuesday as the Eagles fell to Olivet Nazarene 8-0 and 6-3.
In the opener, Judson had a scoring opportunity to begin the contest as Lexie Knowles began with a leadoff walk, followed by a Braly Wiser bunt single. The Eagles hit into two consecutive fielder's choices followed by an Amaya Chavez flyout to right field. In the second inning, Autumn Johanningsmeier reached base on a one-out walk and found her way to third base following a fielder's choice and a wild pitch prior to Naomi Sweney grounding out to third. In the sixth, Judson had a brief rally as Tatyana Chavez singled and Amelia Jimenez walked with two outs, but Johanninsmeier flew out to right to end the rally opportunity.
Sophie Schomer pitched all five innings, allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits and three walks.
In game two, Judson got on the board first as the Eagles began with consecutive singles from Lexie Knowles and Wiser. Herbert then doubled in both runners to give Judson the early advantage. The Eagles were threatening for more as the Chavez sisters both reached, but a Jimenez fielder's choice and a pair of strikeouts ended that opportunity. Judson scored quickly in the fifth inning as Wiser tripled to lead off the frame followed by a Herbert RBI groundout. Kailyn Wiebe had a single for Judson in the seventh.
Schomer pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs (six total) on eight hits while walking two.
Judson (7-25, 4-16) has concluded conference play. The Eagles are looking to host one more home doubleheader for senior day. Please refer to judsoneagles.com for more details.
