Milwaukee, WI The Judson University Softball Team made a statement by scoring their most runs in a game since March 8, 2017 as the Eagles defeated Dordt 16-0 in five innings. In Sunday's finale, the Eagles took down Cardinal Stritch 16-2.
Judson scored 14 of those runs in the second and third innings. The first two runs were scored on an error in the second inning. Judson followed up that scoring with RBI singles from Lexi Knowles, Sarah Herbert, Tatyana Chavez, Braly Wiser, and Autumn Johanningsmeier. In the third, Knowles, doubled in Naomi Sweeney followed by a two-run shot by Amaya Chavez. Gigi Velazquez followed with an RBI hit, and the 14th run was scored on an error. Johanningsmeier drove in Velasquez in the fifth followed by a Jimenez RBI for the final run. Sophie Schomer recorded the win pitching a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out one and walking no one.
In game one Judson fell to Cardinal Stritch 10-6. Judson scored the games' first two runs in the first on RBI hits from Sarah Herbert (single) and Gigi Velazquez (double). Following a three-run Stritch second, Judson answered with three runs in the fourth, which included a two-run double from Tatyana Chavez to give Judson a 5-3 lead. The Wolves hit a Grand Slam in the fifth to pull away. Amelia Jimenez pitched the entire game, allowing 10 earned runs on 15 hits while striking out one and not allowing a walk.
Judson (5-11, 2-2 CCAC) faces Roosevelt on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 in Rosemont.
