Meghan McCarty Johnson
Leading the Judson University women's basketball program through some of their finest years, ever, of the program, Meghan McCarty-Johnson helped Judson to two NAIA National Tournaments and five combined CCAC Championships. She also left Judson as the all-time leader in points (1,872) and field goals made (706).
In four years, Judson went 88-43 and posted three 20-win seasons with the most wins in a season coming in 2000-01 (27). In 1998-99, Judson finished their season in the NAIA National Tournament Elite Eight which is the farthest any team has ever gone in the history of Judson athletics. Judson also made a second appearance at the NAIA National Tournament in 2000-01 where they finished in the Sweet 16. Judson won the CCAC regular season championships in 1998-99, 1999-2000, and 2000-01 and claimed CCAC tournament championships in 1999-2000 and 2000-01.
A two-time Judson Female Athlete of the Year, McCarty-Johnson was the first women's basketball player to be named to the NAIA All-American second team. She reached this accomplishment as a senior along with being the team's most valuable player and a NCCAA scholar-athlete. As a junior, she was named the CCAC Player of the Year and an All-Conference selection while setting the Judson record for a single season in free throw percentage (.857). In her second year at Judson, she played in a school record 34 games for a single season helping her team to 25 wins. Her first year came in 1997-98 and was one of her best being named the CCAC Freshman of the Year, All-CCAC honorable mention, and voted onto the NCCAA All-Region team. She finished in six single season top 10 categories for Judson, too, in that same season.
McCarty-Johnson also used her athletic skills on the soccer field in 1998 and 1999. In 1999, she was a part of the NCCAA National Tournament where Judson finished eighth and had an overall record of 7-6-1.
When she left Judson, her name was in the career top 10 list for eight different categories as she led two of them. She also has her name in 11 times for single season top 10 in seven different categories.
McCarty-Johnson is from Roscoe, Ill., and currently resides in Roselle, Ill.
