JERRY SMITH - coach, athletic director
Coaching three different sports in his time at Judson, Jerry Smith made an impact on many lives while at Judson. He was at Judson for just five athletic years but set many firsts for the Judson programs. He coached both baseball and men's soccer for five seasons and was the men's basketball coach for one season in 1968-69. During the 1968-69 season, he was also the acting Director of Athletics. He took over the men's soccer program in the second season of existence in 1968 and won 30 matches in the next five seasons. He was the first coach to win 10 matches in a season (1970) and went to Judson's first post-season match in the 1970 NAIA District playoffs. He is third all-time at Judson in men's soccer wins. From 1969 through 1973 he called the signals for Judson's baseball team and was the first coach to win 20 games in a season with a 20-11 record in 1973. His 52 career wins is the second most by any Judson baseball coach. In only one year as the men's basketball coach, he guided Judson to a 19-7 record in 1968-69. It was the first team to win 10 or more games as the program was only in its fourth year of existence. His time at Judson set the foundation for many more great teams to come.
