Eagles Fly Into Semis
Elgin, IL - In the playoffs, big time players make big time plays. Thus was the case in the Women's Volleyball Quarterfinals. The Eagles, as the #3 seed came out firing on all cylinders from the word jump.
They were able to sweep Olivet Nazarene three sets to none to move onto the semifinal round in the CCAC tournament.
Judson, now 19-12 overall, won in a runaway, 25-16, 25-18, 25-18. Even when trailing by a few points, JU was in command all night long.
Jaclyn Riedl had a dominate game for the Eagles. She led the way with 14 kills. Riedl, seemingly got the majority of those kills early on and in a hurry to really set the tone.
Yomailis Fernandez and Alyssa Gerzel both added 12 kills each. Fernandez also added 17 digs. Alina Romero was solid in the middle with 21 assists.
For the game, Judson dominated ONU 45-27 in kills, and had five aces to the Tigers three.
In their regular season matchup, the Eagles had to come from behind to win the match in five sets. Now inside the nest, it was the polar opposite as Judson controlled the game in all areas.
Judson, will now try to avenge a regular season home loss, as they will travel to St. Xavier on Thursday night for the semi-final round.
Back in October, St. Xavier came into the Lindner Center and took a 3-0 victory. They will be the #2 seed for the semi-final match on Thursday.
The winner of the game will compete for the CCAC Championship on Saturday. The site of the location will be at the highest remaining seed.
