Eagles Pick Up Victory On Special Night
Palos Heights, IL - On a night where Eagles and Trolls came together in support against the fight against leukemia, it was the Eagles coming away with the four set victory on Tuesday night. After Trinity Christian took a spirited first set, JU settled in and got to work. They proceeded to take the next three sets to take the match, and remain undefeated in CCAC conference play.
Judson, now off for a full week, sits at 18-2 on the year, and a perfect 10-0 in conference play. They own a 3.5 game lead in the conference with four games to play. Their magic number to clinch a regular season title is one. By clinching the regular season crown, they would play host to the CCAC eight-team conference tournament throughout.
On this night, Kara Wicklund's play stood out with eight kills, and seven digs.
After a first set adjustment, Alyssa Gerzel and Emmaline Davey really controlled the net throught the remainder of the match, both recording double digit kills. Lindsay Paulsen also added 11 kills and a .400 kill percentage.
A week of rest comes at a nice time for the Eagles as they are able to rest and recover from those late season injuries and body aches. Many team goals are still very much in play with the final four regular season matchups coming up. Beyond that, postseason success is also very much in play for JU.
Both JU and Trinity Christian came together tonight in support of the Brendan Gibbons family, and their fight against leukemia. All proceeds from a fun night inside the DeVos Gymnasium will be donated to the family's gofundme page. Tonight, both teams displayed orange ribbons on their uniforms, and they were #17strong together.
Judson is back on the court next Tuesday, the 24th as they will host a pack the place night inside of the Lindner Center.
