Judson Splits Games in NCCAA Pool Play to Advance to Semi Finals

Point Lookout, MO Post-season play has continued for the Judson Women's Volleyball team as they traveled down south for the NCCAA National Tournament. Splitting into two pools of three teams, the Eagles were ranked #5 in a pool with #4 Carolina University and #1 Columbia International University ultimately going 1-1 on the day. In the first match, Judson faced Carolina University. Judson was able to stay in control from the beginning to the end of each set allowing for a quick 3-0 victory (25-22,25-13,25-20).
Emmaline Davey had a standout performance in the match achieving 17 kills while still managing to hit a .625 hitting percentage. She also put in some work defensively finishing with 5 digs. Close behind her hitting on the right side was Alyssa Gerzel finishing with 12 kills. Gerzel also had her fair share of digs with 9 as well as achieving an ace from the serving line and a lone block assist. Outsides Carolina Cosme and Yomailis Fernandez both added 7 kills and 12 digs each to the stat sheet. Cosme had 2 service aces in addition to her kills and digs while Fernandez had 3 assists, 1 ace, and 1 solo block. Lindsay Paulsen and Zoe Eitel saw their time on the court for a combined 6 kills in the match; 4 for Paulsen and 2 for Eitel.
Kenia Diaz Vega was all over the court finishing with 21 digs, 2 assists, and a service ace. Lindsay Lawlor dominated the setter position finishing with 45 assists and 2 digs. She had 2 kills to her name as well.
In match two, the Eagles faced Columbia International in a hard-fought 0-3 match (18-25,17-25,15-25).
Gerzel was the leading hitter on the floor finishing with 10 kills. She also accounted for 13 digs and 1 block assist. Fernandez racked up 4 kills in the match and also 13 digs. Davey had the same amount of kills with 4 and 1 dig. Cosme finished with 3 kills, 4 digs, and 1 block assist. Ariadna Marquez, Kyah Golding, and Lindsay Paulsen all had 1 kill each.
Diaz Vega never fails to be the backbone of the Judson defense finishing with 24 digs and 2 assists. Lawlor finished with 22 assists, 5 digs, and an ace from the serving line.
Through their efforts in pool play, Judson will stay in Missouri for day two of the NCCAA National Tournament facing Trinity International in the semi-finals.
