Diaz Vega, Davey, Gerzel Highlighted by Conference and Region in Postseason Recognitions
Elgin, IL The Judson University Women's Volleyball Team has three players who have been recognized by the CCAC and the NCCAA North Central Region for their efforts this season. Libero Kenia Diaz Vega has been named to the CCAC All-Conference first team, while Emmaline Davey and Alyssa Gerzel have been named to the NCCAA North Central Region first team and the CCAC Conference second team.
Gerzel leads the team with 394 kills this season and had a 3.03 kills-per-set mark. She also is the team leader with 38 service aces and is second on the team with 553 digs. She is also among the team leaders in block assists (31) and total blocks (38).
Davey led the team in solo blocks (20), block assists (30), and total blocks (50). Additionally, she is third on the team in total kills with 286 is is among 10 players on the team who have at least 10 service aces on the team. She is also the only senior from the team to be recognized by Judson Athletics' governing bodies.
Diaz Vega has 553 digs on the season to lead the team. This season, Diaz Vega has amassed the 1,000 career dig mark as she sits with 1,018 now on her career. Additionally, she has been recognized twice by the NCCAA as the National Player of the Week and was recognized by the CCAC as the defensive player of the week as well.
Judson plays in the NCCAA North Central Region championship match on Friday at Trinty International University.
