Judson Breaks .500 in Conference With Win Over St. Francis (IL)
Joliet, IL The Judson Eagles knew what they needed to accomplish against the Fighting Saints. Going point for point in the first set, the Eagles pulled ahead in the end. In the Second and third sets, Judson was able to assert their dominance by leading by as much as 10 at certain points in the match. Leaving it all on the court, the Eagles were able to leave the court with a 3-0 victory (25-19,25-10,25-18).
A standout performance offensively by Emmaline Davey is what continues to be seen in each match she is on the court. Leading her team in kills with 15, she finished the match with .481. She is currently in the top five of the CCAC in the hitting percentage category. In addition to Davey, Alyssa Gerzel never fails to impress with her double-digit kills in the match. Recording 11 kills and 8 digs in the match, Gerzel stayed active at the net offensively in combination with a big solo block in the 2nd set. Yomailis Fernandez brought in 7 kills and Lindsay Paulsen went 5 for 7 on kills finishing with a .714 hitting percentage.
Kenia Diaz Vega has led the Eagles in digs just about all season whether it be simple passes or hard-hit receptions, she has shown up and showed out. Diaz Vega recorded 20 kills for the Eagles in addition to 2 service aces. Others who contributed to the defense were Kara Wicklund with 14 digs, Fernandez with 10, and Lindsay Lawlor and Davey both with 3 of their own. Lawlor also attributed 34 assists in the match helping the hitters bring home the victory.
The Eagles battle for their chance at the CCAC tournament in their last match of the regular season against Indiana Northwest on Thursday.
