4-Set Victory Over Governors State Helps the Eagles Cap Off Senior Night
Elgin, IL With their final home game of the regular season, the Judson Women's Volleyball Team celebrated their senior night. After warmups, the following seniors were celebrated and recognized for their achievements and impact on the program: Madeline Shepherd, Brielle Wilkins, Emmaline Davey, and Zoe Eitel. Governors State was able to take away the first set for the Eagles but Judson was able to succeed in winning the following three straight sets to send the Jaguars home.
The Offense for the eagles was spread out nicely as all positions were able to get kills on the board. Senior Emmaline Davey was able to rack up 15 kills for her team as she continues to increase her career-hitting percentage as she finished with a .464. Following him was Sophomore Alyssa Gerzel with 11 kills for Judson. Both Carolina Cosme and Yomailis Fernandez finished with 6 kills each.
The defense of the Eagles played a large role in their success. Junior libero Kenia Diaz Vega continues to lead the eagles in digs each match 18. Fernandez was not far behind as she was able to record 13 digs. Cosme had her fair share of digs with 10Throughout the match there were multiple service aces from the line. Lindsay Lawlor made her presence known on the court as she recorded 21 while Shepherd had only 10 assists in the match. All of these young women did their part in the match to earn the victory and celebrate the current seniors for their contributions to the program.
The Eagles face off next on the road against St. Francis (IL) on Tuesday.
