Ambrose Gets the Best of Eagles in 3-Set Loss
Elgin, IL The Eagles fought well and hard in a three-set loss to Saint Ambrose. In honor of the theme for the night which was recognizing mental health awareness, the Eagles wore shirts with the saying "more than an athlete" in addition Judson's Psychology Department's Professor Wang offered a student survey to better understand the mental health of the university students.
Yomailis Fernandez was at the forefront for the Eagles with 9 kills in the match. In addition to her kills, she recorded a single assist and 12 digs. Alyssa Gerzel fought hard as well falling one short of Fernandez with 8 kills and 6 digs. Carolina Cosme recorded 8 kills and 6 digs. Others who added to the offensive efforts of the Eagles were Emmaline Davey and Lindsay Paulsen with 3 kills each, Brielle Wilkins had 2 kills, and Zoe Eitel entered the match with a roaring applause recording her first kill of the season.
Libero Kenia Diaz Vega recorded 11 digs in the match but was all over the court picking up ball after ball. The setter position was split in the game between Lindsay Lawlor and Madeline Shepherd. Lawlor began the match and recorded 19 assists while Shepherd finished the game recording 9 assists.
The Eagles play next on the road against Olivet Nazarene on Thursday.
