Judson Increases Their Win Streak to Three After 5-Set Win Over Cardinal Stritch
Elgin, IL The Judson Women's Volleyball Team brought the fight to Cardinal Stritch in a five-set thriller. Falling short in the first two sets, the Eagles made a drastic comeback going point for point and winning the next three straight. The theme of Pack the Place brought in students, faculty, and spectators from both sides allowing for a gym full of energy.
Sophomore Alyssa Gerzel received a substantial 49 attempted attacks in the match scoring 18 times for the Eagles. Yomailis Fernandez and Emmaline Davey tied in kills in the match both racking up 13. Davey was a threat at the net in addition to her kills, she had 3 big solo blocks and one block assist. Carolina Cosme achieved 7 kills and Lindsay Paulsen had 5.
From the serving line, the Eagles were one of the most threatened. Seven different players were able to serve an ace in the match including Lindsay Lawlor leading the team with 3, Gerzel and Fernandez with 2, Kara Wicklund, Madeline Shepherd, Cosme, and Danielle Gibson all had one.
Kenia Diaz Vega kept a plentiful amount of balls off the floor amounting to 22 digs leading her team in the libero position. Lawlor in the setting position continues to impress as she finished one assist shy of fifty. Her 8 digs and her aces make her a key player on the court.
The Eagles appear next on the court against St. Ambrose on October 25th.
