Des Moines, IA The Judson University Women's Volleyball Team split their first two matches at the Grand View Invite on Friday.
In the opener, Judson fell to William Woods in four sets 25-15, 15-25, 15-25, 22-25. Yomailis Fernandez led the team with 17 kills and 16 digs. Alyssa Gerzel had 10 kills, while Brielle Wilkins had nine kills for the Eagles. Carolina Cosme had eight kills and four digs in the contest. Madeline Shepherd also added 29 assists. Kenia Diaz Vega had 13 digs.
In the nightcap, Judson won a thrilling five-set match 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-10. Gerzel led the team with a great 20-20 performance with 22 kills and 21 digs. Cosme had 25 kills and six digs. Diaz Vega had 37 digs in the contest. Fernandez had seven kills and 27 digs. Lindsay Lawlor had 46 assists and four digs.
Judson (11-14) faces Mayville State and Grace on Saturday.
