Eagles Secure a Win on Day 2 to Finish Off Trolls Invite
Palos Heights, IL The Judson Women's Volleyball Team competed on day two of the Trolls Invite with their only game being against Knox College. From the beginning of the match, the Eagles held a dominant lead and were able to keep a lead consistent within the quick three-set match (25-8,25-17,25-23).
In the match, almost all of the Eagles were able to be a part of the action in the win against Knox. Hitting was led by none other than senior Brielle Wilkins as she had 10 kills. In addition to her impressive performance in the front row, Wilkins also led the team in service aces and can be attributed to 11 digs. Not far behind was Emmaline Davey with 9 kills and a total of 3 digs to help on the defensive end. Alyssa Gerzel and Yomailis Fernandez also contributed to the attack as Gerzel had 7 kills and Fernandez had 5.
There was plenty of action from the serving spot for the Eagles. Both Yomailis and Kenia Diaz Vega had two aces of their own, quintuplets consisting of Alyssa, Carolina Cosme, Madeline Shepherd, and Dannielle Gibson all had 1 to their name. Diaz Vega continued to stay involved in the back row by leading the Eagles with 20 alongside Fernandez with 7, Gerzel with 6, and Cosme with 4. Shepherd and Lindsay Lawlor continued to split the setting position for day two of the invite. Shepherd was involved in 19 kills and Lawlor was involved in 16.
Women's Volleyball travels to Des Moines, IA for the Grandview Tournament 10/14-10/15.
