Eagles Go To Extra Points in Final Set Against St. Francis (IL)
Elgin, IL The Judson Women's Volleyball Team continued their journey in the CCAC as they took on St. Francis (IL). While falling short a set victory in the first two sets, in the third the Eagles were able to keep it close enough to push into extra points just falling short of match continuation allowing St. Francis the victory in 3-sets (19-25,18-25,26-28).
For the Eagles, Alyssa Gerzel continues to be an offensive threat at the net. In the match, she led the eagles with 10 kills and 3 digs. Brielle Wilkins was close behind with 7 kills and 7 digs alongside her lone solo block for the Eagles. Outside Yomailis Fernandez and Middle Emmaline Davey, both contributed the same amount of kills which was 5 while Fernandez had a service ace and Davey had a block assist. Other contributions to the offense were Lindsay Paulson with 3 kills and both Evelyn Martin and Kara Wicklund with 1 each.
Splitting the setting for the night, senior setter Madeline Shepherd and junior setter Lindsay Lawlor had their fair share of assists. Madeline contributed 18 assists while also achieving 2 service aces and 2 digs. Lindsay contributed 10 assists as well as a dig and block assist. Consistently keeping balls offer the floor is Libero Kenia Diaz Vega. She led the Eagles in digs with 12 and added to the number of assists with 2.
