Eagles 5-Set Thriller Falls in Favor of ONU
Elgin, IL The Judson Women's Volleyball Team played their hearts out tonight in a close match against Olivet Nazarene! Starting out slow in the first set, the Eagles were able to bring the fight in the next two sets. Set five finished similarly to set one ulitmetly resulting in an Eagles loss 2-3 (20-25, 25-18,25-12,19-25,8-15).
On the offensive, Carolina Cosme led the team in kills racking up 16 on 42 attempts. Right behind her was middle Emmaline Davey with 14. Alyssa Gerzel also contributed double digit kills finishing with 12 of her own. Freshman Yomailis Fernandez coninues to fight hard as she finsihed with a total of 8 kills. Lindsay Paulson was also a threat in the offense with 4 kills.
On the defensive, the Eagles all around contributed to keeping balls off the floor. Three players were in the double digits. Starting with Libero Kenia Diaz Vega, she was able to dig 18 balls along side her court partners Yomailis with 12 and Alyssa with 11. Setter Madeline Shepherd contributed 9 digs as well as a big solo block and 2 service aces. In addition to her defensive efforts, Madeline's contribution to the team was her setting. She assisted 49 kills in the match.
The Eagles play Governors State on Saturday for their next road match.
