Deerfield/Palos Heights, IL The Eagles were on the road this weekend for their first away tournament of the season. Both Friday and Saturday were a success as they ended their journey going 4-0 beating Michigan-Dearborn (25-20, 25-22, 25-18), Webber International (25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 25-13), Ohio Christian (25-21, 25-17, 25-11), and College of the Ozarks (25-21, 25-21, 25-11).
On day 1 of the tournament, the Eagles came out fighting against Michigan-Dearborn as senior Emmaline Davey lead the team in kills with 9. Both Alyssa Gerzel and Carolina Cosme shared 7 kills each as they helped the Eagles offensively. Setter Lindsay Lawlor recorded a total of 24 assists in the match as well as contributing a service ace and six digs. It was an overall great performance as multiple players were allotted double-digit digs keeping the ball off the floor.
Game two's match against Webber International was a total of four sets ending in a Judson victory. Continuing to put up high numbers, Carolina Cosme led the Eagles with 13 kills and also added 11 digs. Not far behind was Alyssa Gerzel with 11 kills and 6 digs. Kara Wickland had an all-around good performance as she recorded 7 kills alongside her 3 services aces and digs. On the defensive, Kenia Diaz Vega attributed for 11 digs in the match. Leading her team once again in assists, Lindsay Lawlor recorded a total of 34.
On day 2 of the tournament, Judson completed a quick three set match against Ohio Christian. Amounting for almost double the amount of kills than their opponent, Carolina Cosme led the team with 13 kills. Behind her was Emmaline Davey with 6 and both Lindsay Paulsen and Brielle Wilkins with 5. The most digs in the match goes to Kenia Diaz Vega with 15 followed by Alyssa Gerzel with 9. Lindsay Lawlor with an impressive start to the day recording 30 assists, 2 digs, and two block assists.
In the second match against College of the Ozarks the Eagles came out swinging as Alyssa Gerzel led the eagles with 11 kills followed by Carolina Cosme 10, and both Brielle Wilkins and Emmaline Davey with 9. Emmaline Davey also recorded 4 service aces and 3 blocks. Kenia Diaz Vega led on the defensive end with 19 digs while Lindsay Lawlor had 38 assists.
The Eagles will compete next on Thursday, September 1st at Calumet. The match begins at 7:00 PM.
