Judson University Women's Tennis Spring Break Recap
Orlando, Fla. The Judson University Women's tennis team closed out their Spring Break 2022 trip to Orlando with a 2-1 record. The Eagles had 2 matches rained out that could have added a few additional wins to their trip, but the overall level of play by the Eagles was high. The Eagles opened with a tough loss over CCAC rival University of St Francis, but came out strong against Seton Hill University. The Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at No.1 (Samantha Brackenrig & Sofia Corona Garza) & No.2 (Hailey Haws & Linda Nhiwatiwa). As the singles matches progressed, the weather started to turn for the worse and shortly after No.6 singles player Kelsey Quiett secured her win over her opponent, the match was called for rain and left unfinished. The weather seemed to stick around for a few days as the match against Kings College was also rained out. The Eagles were able to get back on the courts in the evening and face off against a very evenly matched team of Kansas Wesleyan University. The Eagles secured the doubles point with wins by No.1 (Samantha Brackenrig & Sofia Corona Garza) and No.3 (Kelsey Quiett & Anastasia White). As the Eagles controlled most of the singles matches, it was appearing that the KWU ladies were not ready to give up and they continued to battle across all the courts. The final point and deciding match were at the hands of Kelsey Quiett at the No.6 singles spot. Kelsey Quiett defeated her opponent in straight sets to give the Eagles the 4th and winning point. The Eagles closed out their spring break trip with a decisive win over Trine University 8-1. The ladies swept the doubles courts and won across all but 1 single's courts. The Eagles will jump back into action against Lake Forest College on Saturday.
