Judson University Women's Tennis Fall 2021 Update
Wheaton, Ill. The Judson University Women's Tennis season opened with an "Exhibition" match against Wheaton College on Friday. Despite no scores are reported for an exhibition, the Eagles had some very competitive matches throughout the night. The lineup had some new faces along some of the key players from last year. The No.1 doubles team consisted of Sofia Corona Garza & Anastasia White. Anastasia was an NCAA D2 transfer that came to Judson University to continue her architecture degree as well as join the tennis team. Sofia Corona Garza is no stranger to the top part of the lineup as she has filled the spots of the No.1 doubles and No.1 singles consistently for the last few years. The No.2 doubles team consisted of Samantha Brackenrig & Kelsey Quiett. Kelsey is also a newcomer to the program as she had a very successful career in her high school tennis program in Texas and Samantha Brackenrig is a returning player who is back in the lineup after an injury and is fully recovered and ready to battle for those wins. The No.3 doubles spot was filled with another newcomer Linda Nhiwatiwa & Hailey Haws. Hawes is another returner from a last year with a fairly successful singles and doubles career. Linda is a newcomer to the team and lineup and comes to Judson University from Australia. Linda had a successful tennis career in Australia and is proving herself on the court.
The singles lineup most definitely has seen some changes and players are starting to settle into their academic and athletic routines. The exhibition match allowed for all the ladies to experience some competitive tennis while also giving a glimpse of how they compete in true match situations. According to Coach Moment, "This is a team that has the ability & talent to win a conference title and make some type of post season appearances at a national championship." " I am truly excited & blessed to have a team of talented young ladies who are clearly showing they will be a significant competitor in the CCAC.
The Judson University Athletic Department wishes the team great success in their fall season.
