Judson Women's Tennis Wins 4-3 Over Olivet Nazarene
Park Forest, Ill. The Judson University women's tennis team wins 4-3 over Olivet Nazarene. This marks a unique accomplishment that the women's program has never achieved in the 9 years of Coach Moment's tenure as Head Coach & 11 straight contests against Olivet Nazarene University.
"This was one of his biggest wins here as head coach and for this program overall," said Judson University Head Tennis Coach Chris Moment.
The Eagles did just about everything they could to not allow the Tigers to dominate the doubles matches as the Eagles were able to secure wins at the No.2 (Lizeth Medina Diaz & Hailey Haws) & No.3 (Caroline Johnson & Katelynn Coleman) doubles spots. These matches were extremely close as Medina & Haws won 7-5 and Johnson & Coleman secured the doubles point with a close tiebreaker win at 7-6.
The Eagles went into the singles matches expecting a battle on each court as the Tigers were able to pick up wins at the 1 and 2 singles spots as well at the 6 singles spot. The Eagles picked up wins by Caroline Johnson in straight sets at No.5 and Samantha Brackenrig at the No.4 singles spot in a third set tiebreaker. The final & winning point came at the hands of Hailey Haws at the No.3 singles spot in a closely contested matchup in a third set tiebreaker.
The win against the Tigers gave the ladies a chance of earning a berth into the CCAC conference tournament with a possible three-way tie for the final 2 spots in the tournament. The Eagles face off tomorrow against the University of St. Francis as their final CCAC match. Congrats to the ladies team for such an impressive and exciting win for the program.
