Elgin, IL - In their regular season home finale, the Eagles found themselves in a must-win match against St. Xavier. With the wind playing a huge factor, the Cougars got out to a quick 1-0 lead within the four minutes of the game. They held that lead until halftime, making things look bleak for JU.
But in the second half, it was the Eagles getting the wind advantage, and they made it count. In the 49th minute, the Eagles finally broke through with a Payton Siragusa goal off of a free kick. That goal tied things up at one apiece with Judson gaining the momentum.
It was still tied until the 81st minute, when it was Siragusa again from long range to give the Eagles the 2-1 lead. Those two goals were number 4 and 5 on the season for the senior, Siragusa.
That goal was a giant exhale, and a giant monkey off of the back of the Judson squad as just a minute later, it was a co-captain Kelly Leon dialing one up from 30 yards out. It was Leon's sixth goal of the season.
Not done yet, four minutes later, Daisy Garcia took her turn from outside of the box to net another JU goal making it 4-1. That was Garcia's 7th goal of the season.
Struggling lately to find the net in general, Judson found the net three times in the span of five minutes.
With the win, Judson is now 4-4-8 overall, and 3-2-5 in conference play. With one game to play, Judson regains the 8th seed in the CCAC playoffs. They will clinch that spot with either a win on Saturday, or an IU-NW loss.
The Eagles play their final game of the regular season on Saturday at IU-South Bend.
