Elgin, IL - There was extra buzz in the air on Saturday as it was Homecoming weekend for the Eagles. With many events in and around campus, the Women's Soccer team was able to also bring home a 4-0 victory over Governors State.
Prior to the match, Judson held their annual alumni games for both the men and women. Once the action started in this CCAC contest, it was all Eagles. JU scored all four goals in the first half to lead to a dominant win.
With the win, the Eagles are 3-3-4 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play. As the schedule turns to the second half of things, points become crucial in a packed middle of the conference standings.
Yeyahs Macias got the scoring started in the 12th minute. She would also add on a second goal just before halftime. Those two goals brings Macias' total to 9 on the season which leads the Eagles.
Daisy Garcia and Maria Artaloitia added the other two goals. Artaloitia also had an assist in the match as well.
While she did not find the net herself, co-captain Kelly Leon had 3 assists on the afternoon.
In goal, Eva Fernandez was credited with six saves in the shutout win. It was her third shutout of the season.
Judson has seven games left in the regular season with senior day coming next Saturday against Viterbo.
