Macias Starts The Scoring, Eagles Draw In Opener
Elgin, IL - A brand new year officially kicked off on this afternoon as games that count are back in action!
In their season opener, the Judson Eagles Women's Soccer Team battled to a 1-1 draw against the Rochester Christian Warriors.
The match, played on a wet and overcast turf, saw both goals scored in the first half. Yeyahs Macias netted the opening goal of the game, and season for the Eagles, assisted by Denise Jimenez and Maria Artaloitia. The strike, gave Judson an early 1-0 lead.
However, Rochester Christian equalized just seven minutes later with a well-placed header into the back of the net.
The second half was marked by strong defensive efforts from both teams. Despite being outshot 18-7, the Eagles' goalkeeper Ava Fernandez was outstanding, recording 8 saves.
The Eagles are back in action on the 22nd, when they host Clarke in a non-conference match-up at Dawson Field.
