Recapping The Season Awards For Women's Soccer
Elgin, IL - After the fall soccer season concluded, the CCAC Conference, NCCAA, and NAIA released their 2023 Fall Scholar Athlete selections.
For the Eagles' Women's Soccer Team, they were well represented. Led by senior co-captain Stephanie Naskrent, the Health Promotion & Performance major had a GPA over 3.700. She was named to all three lists, and is a two time recipient on the CCAC Conference list.
Senior Ashley Portell was also named to all three lists. The Biology major had a GPA over 3.500.
Also named to all three lists were fellow seniors Payton Siragusa and Mariana Espinoza. Siragusa is a Elementary Education major with a GPA over 3.600 while Espinoza is a Management major with a GPA over 3.800.
Junior Shelsea Cardenas also was named to all three lists. She tallied a GPA over 3.800 and majors in Psychology.
Junior Lillie Whitehead was named to the CCAC Conference list and to the NCCAA. With a GPA over 3.400, the Architecture major is a two time recipient of the CCAC recognition.
Also a two time recipient of the CCAC Conference recognition is junior Maria Artaloitia. The Architecture major tallied a GPA over 3.300.
Lastly, is junior co-captain Kelly Leon. For the second time, the Management major was named to the CCAC Conference list with a GPA over 3.300. Leon was also named to the NCCAA All-America First Team. In addition, Leon made the CCAC First Team All Conference list for the third year in a row, as well as the NCCAA North Central All-Regional First Team.
On the NCCAA North Central All-Regional Second Team was Stephanie Naskrent and Alex Wawrzyniak. On the CCAC Second Team All Conference list was Wawrzyniak, Daisy Garcia, and Josett Perez.
The Eagles posted a winning conference record this fall with four of their six victories overall coming in shutout fashion.
