Seniors Power Eagles On Senior Day

Seniors Power Eagles On Senior Day

Elgin, IL - On Senior Day 2023, it was a senior led performance for the Eagles as they wrapped up regular season play on this afternoon. On this day, JU played Indiana South Bend and controlled the game from start to finish, winning 6-0. The Eagles finished the regular season 6-6-4, and 5-3-3 in CCAC conference play.

The Eagles had two goals in the first half. The first by senior Alex Wawrzyniak (3rd), and the second by senior Josett Perez

In the second half, JU netted for more goals. Another by Perez, giving her nine total on the season, good for the team lead. Goals were also scored by Denise Jimenez (2nd), Daisy Garcia (6th), and Maria Artaloitia (5th).

In addition, co-captain Kelly Leon added three assists on the day. Incredibly, the Eagles outshot IU-SB 50-2. The Judson players peppered the goal all game long. It was quite a performance led by several seniors, fitting for a senior day.

Before the game, the Eagles honored six seniors on their final home regular season game. Shelby Key, Mariana Espinoza, Alex Wawrzyniak, Ashley Portell, Josett Perez, and co-captain Stephanie Naskrent were all honored by their teammates and coaches in pregame festivities.

This senior class left a positive mark on the Judson soccer program with their hard work and excellent leadership. This squad was certainly a senior led team all season long. We thank our seniors for all of their hard work during their time wearing Judson blue and white.

The Eagles will now turn to CCAC conference tournament play next week.
