2023-24 Women's Soccer Preseason Preview

2023-24 Women's Soccer Preseason Preview

Judson Women's Soccer Preseason Preview

Elgin, IL - If you are looking for passion, energy, and consistency, look no further than the Eagles' Women's Soccer Team. Head Coach Diego Cevallos embarks on year number 16 as the Judson leader, and he is just that, a leader and teacher in every sense of the word. "I love the energy, and I feed off of that. The way the girls play, and watching their skills bloom, it keeps me coming back for more," says Coach Cevallos.

This season is anticipated to be a big one for the Lady Eagles. They are welcoming in several new players that have a ton of experience. After losing several players to graduation, the Eagles are simply reloading instead of rebuilding. That is how Coach Cevallos expects to maintain success, and simply keep things rolling. It was just two seasons ago that Judson was CCAC conference champions, and they are going for it again this season. "We do not settle, we attack, we keep going."

Leading the Eagles, will be junior Kelly Leon (Elgin, IL). Leon is a two year All-American, and was named to the All-American first team last year. She was one of the CCAC leading scorers with 10 reaching the back of the net last season. She was named one of the team captains this year, and is expected to grow into a leadership role.

The Eagles' coaching staff is also excited for fellow captains, senior Stephanie Naskrent (Elgin, IL), and senior Alex Wawrzyniak (Round Lake Beach, IL) who was also All-Conference a season ago.

The talent does not stop there. Judson's strength will be their team depth. Players such as junior Denise Jimenez (Chicago, IL), and senior Payton Siragusa (Sycamore, IL), will make instant, and consistent impacts. Finally, keep an eye out for freshmen Daisy Garcia (West Chicago, IL). Coach Cevallos is again expecting some exciting things out of the talented freshmen.

It is a new season, with new challenges, but you will not hear Coach Cevallos complain one bit. "We strive to overcome challenges, that is the most rewarding thing about being a coach. To see the players work hard and succeed." What also makes Coach proud is the team's commitment to their core values. "We really believe hard in wanting and giving respect. At Judson, the University's mission is to shape lives to shape the world, and we are committed to making these talented ladies leave better off than when they arrived."

Coach is ready, the team is ready, and the rest of the region better be ready for the Eagles to soar in 2023. The season kicks off August 17th with a home match against Indiana Wesleyan.
