NCCAA Golf Notes: Haakenson Wins Dan & Kelly Wood Award, Scholar Athletes, NCCAA Preview
Greenville, SC The NCCAA is pleased to announce Grace Haakenson of Judson University as the 2021 Dan & Kelly Wood Award Recipient for Women's Golf.
Haakenson, a graduate student from Albertville, Minnesota, demonstrates her relationship with Christ daily, both on and off the course. She recognizes the gifts God has given her and is determined to glorify God in and through them. Haakenson has a heart for service, actively helping in her youth group and in the local community. The two-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete majors in organizational leadership and holds a very high GPA.
Haakenson models consistency and excellence in her play, earning Judson University Player of the Year four times and qualifying for the NCCAA Golf National Championship three times. 2021 has been a year of breakthrough for Haakenson, shooting a career-low tournament score and a career-low single-round score. Additionally, she was chosen as team captain this season.
"Grace is a high integrity individual who speaks truth and holds herself and others accountable," boasts Judson Head Women's Golf Coach John Wedell. He also confirmed her Christlike character by advocating that, "She has a heart for putting others first and works very hard to make sure the people around her feel comfortable and included. She'll go the extra mile for anyone."
Congratulations to Grace for receiving such high recognition.
