Eagles Open Up Season With Third Place Finish
Rockford, IL - This past weekend the Judson Eagles kicked off the season at the Golden Eagle Invite in Rockford, IL.
On the Ladies Varsity side, we finished with a 3rd place finish after Bracket play! Led by 2 fantastic performances from Junior Paige Carpenter and Senior Chloe Siezega as both players made their first All-Tournament teams! Paige finished 2nd overall with games of 212, 217, 176, 235, and 237 to average 215.4 as well as 90% on Multipin % and 58% strike percentage! Chloe finished 3rd overall with games of 218, 201, 199, 189, and a huge 268 to get her into the top 5 with a 213.6 average and had a single pin percentage of 96.3% as well as 100% on multipin.
The team finished Saturday qualifying with a 1016 team game and had a high game on Sunday of 248 during baker to qualify 2nd for bracket play. In bracket play the team lost to Calumet College 2-0 to finish 3rd. I great way to start the season for the Lady Eagles. Senior Michele Chancey had a nice game 1 of 202 and Senior Kaylee Mann came off the bench to provide a boost with a 192 game and a 174 average.
Other contributors on the weekend were Senior Brandy Stewart with a 162 average and Senior Isabell Cooley with a 167 average.
On the Ladies JV side we were able to take home the Championship! Led by Senior Marisa Garcia who had games of 142, 224, 203, 193, and 168 to average 186 for the weekend. In her Eagle debut tournament Alexis Vande Kolk was super solid with games of 203, 171, 148, 180, and 172 for a 174 average. This team dominated the JV division by over 250 pins at the end of qualifying on Sunday.
This is a great sign for the future of the Ladies team! Heading into the bracket play as the number 1 seed the Eagles were able to finish the job against Governors State University in the finals winning 3-1. Freshman Isabella Martinez came in off the bench and provided games of 214 and 188 to really help the team as well as an 80% single pin percentage. Sophomore Katelyn Kiefer averaged 172 for the weekend, Freshman Izabel Krajecki finished with a 142 average and Freshman Moriah Greenwood was at 61% on her multipin spares.
Next weekend the Varsity team heads to Wauwatosa Wisconsin for the Midwest Collegiate Classic event.
