Rockford, IL - The Eagles took to the road and were able to bring back a quality victory over Rockford 59-55 on Thursday night. JU now stands at 3-6 on the season with two of those wins coming against NCAA Division III teams.
What may be even more impressive then the victory, was how it came to be. Judson was down 18-12 after the opening quarter, and down 14 after three quarters.
But, a strong closing frame was able to propel the Eagles to the winner's circle. They outscored Rockford 27-9 in the 4th quarter to overtake the Regents in the end for the win.
The duo of Madison Carlson and Brooke Heiman led the way each scoring 13 points from the field. Carlson added five rebounds while Heiman had six.
Having to replace one of their leaders in the post, Easton Kimball who is out for the season with an injury, the Eagles found a way to pull down 40 rebounds. The small but mighty Paula Bernal Rodrigalvarez led with 11 boards.
Demiah Hawkins nearly had a double-double with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Judson also went 21-23 from the free throw line to help keep them in the ball game.
The Eagles will get back into conference play on Saturday when they travel to Governors State.
