Five-Run Fifth-Inning Spark The Highlight of Wednesday's Doubleheader Against St. Francis
Elgin, Ill. The Judson University Softball Team lost both ends of a doubleheader on Wednesday by the scores of 10-1 and 18-6 (6).
In the opener, Judson scored the game's first run on a passed ball on the second inning. Judson had seven hits, three of which came from Gabby Melchiorre. Sarah Hebert, Tatyana Chavez, Britney Sanchez, and Sophie Schomer had the hits for Judson. Bella Lodico pitched 5.2 innings and allowed six earned runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking none. Sophie Schomer pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing four runs on four hits.
In the second game, Chavez had an RBI single in the first inning. The Eagles then scored five in the fifth on RBI singles from Herbert (2-run), Chavez, and Autumn Johanningsmeier. Herbert and Chavez each had two hits in the contest for Judson, while CJ Adams and Kennedy Dietz had one hit apiece. Schomer pitched four innings allowing 9 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits while walking one and striking out three. Kennedy Dietz pitched 2 innings, allowing nine earned runs on six hits.
Judson faces Trinity Christian for two on Saturday.
