Men's and Women's Cross Country Finish Top 5 at ONU Invitational

Men's and Women's Cross Country Finish Top 5 at ONU Invitational

Bourbonnais, Ill. The Judson University Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams participated in the Olivet Nazarene Invitational on Friday. The women's team finished in third place, while the men's team finished in fourth.

The women's team fared well amid very warm conditions as the Eagles lowered their total average time by nine seconds. Four Eagles finished in the top-30 individuals. Senior Marie Mayer finished in 5th place with a time of 19:04.10; Kasey Moreno finished 18th with a time of 20:10.20.; Beth Rodriguez set a personal best with a time of 20:56.90 to finish 26th, while Nayeli Cisneros had a time of 21:00.30 to finish 28th.

The men's team ran their first 8K race for this season, and the team certainly did not disappoint. Five underclassmen Eagles runners had times under 30 minutes which has not been knowingly done in program history. Josphat Chumba finished in 3rd place with a time of 26:23.20. Gage Fox and Kyle Braund finished 27th and 28th with times of 29:04.10 and 29:08.00 respectively. Jonathan Jasso (34th, 29:27.40) and Jaret Godinez (40th, 29:58.50) rounded out Judson's top-five.

"I am very happy where both teams are thus far," said Head Coach Cam Knudsen. "We have a huge training block until our next race. We look forward to continuing to progress in the coming races."

Judson returns to action on October 9 in Bethel University Cross Country Invitational in Mishawaka, IN.
