Eagles Go 3-1, Fall In Final Match of Eagle Classic

Elgin, IL - This weekend, Judson University hosted the 7th Annual Eagle Classic inside of the Lindner Center. Two games at once, going on simultaneously with action and athleticism all around. 

The Host Eagles played well the entire weekend, winning their first three games without dropping a single set. JU defeated Midway, University of Olivet, and Calvin. 

In game one, the Eagles took down Midway 25-23, 25-17, 25-9. Elijah Gregg led the team with 11 kills. Elijah Wrobel threw down four service aces during the match. 

In game two, the Eagles took down the University of Olivet 25-14, 25-18, 25-14. Co-captain Elijah Wrobel did one better with five service aces in the contest. He is 19 service aces already on the season, and is on pace to threaten the program record for aces in a single season. 

Carlos Hernandez contributes six digs, and Grant Shipley had three blocks. 

In match three, JU took down Calvin 25-9, 25-19, 25-10. Mason Snodgrass had nine kills. To follow, Grant Shipley had 7, and Trevor Kozlowski had six. 

The final match of the Eagle Classic saw Judson match up with Indiana Tech, who also were victorious in their first three games of the weekend. 

With both teams loud and into the action, JU took the first set 26-24. Indiana Tech then took set two and three, before the Eagles took the forth set to force a decisive fifth set. 

In the end, it was the Warriors of Indiana Tech narrowly taking the fifth and final set, and ultimately the game 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, and 15-12. 

Mason Snodgrass led the team with 19 kills. Elijah Wrobel also posted his second 50-burger in assists with 51 in the game, along with 12 assists. Elijah Gregg added 15 kills, and Trevor Kozlowski was also in double figures with 11. 

To have the contest come down to an exciting fifth set between the two teams that were undefeated on the weekend made for some great action on the afternoon. Those are matchups that you want to be in as an athlete. 

The Eagles will jump back into conference play when they travel to Viterbo on Monday night.
