Wrobel and Otto Honored As Athletes of the Week
Chicago, Ill. and Greenville, SC The Judson University Men's Volleyball Program had two individuals honored with weekly awards for their efforts. Judson went 5-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAC play during the seven-matches-in-seven-days stretch. That put the Eagles at 8-3 overall and 2-0 in league matches.
Libero Jackson Otto is this week's CCAC Defender of the Week. The freshman averaged 3.12 digs per set with four double-figure dig matches among his seven total played. He also recorded 135 receptions in 138 chances. Otto's top game came on Thursday when he secured 22 digs in a four-set win over St. Ambrose University. His other performances included 14 digs and 31 receptions without error versus Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) and 12 digs against Olivet College (Mich.), both of which came on Saturday.
"I am very proud of this young man and for the strides that he is making in his freshman year," said Head Coach Jacob Wallin. "He was our first selection as the captain of the week for not only his performances on the court but his passion for the game as well. I am very excited for his future, and growth as an athlete and leader."
Elijah Wrobel was named the CCAC Setter of the Week and was named the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Wrobel totaled 237 assists (9.12 average), 39 digs, and 14 service aces over 26 sets en route to CCAC Setter of the Week accord. The sophomore twice recorded 40-plus assist matches, coming against St. Ambrose (43) on Thursday and Cornerstone University, Mich. (41) on Saturday. He also produced six aces in the St. Ambrose match.
"I am happy for Elijah's success and I am proud of him," said Wallin. "He is already influencing the culture of everything the Judson Men's Volleyball program values: including hard work, dedication, and being a spiritual leader."
Judson travels to LaCrosse, WI to face Viterbo on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
