Sheron Flies Into Record Books At Cougar Classic
Edwardsville, IL - After a stellar indoor season, freshmen runner Trey Sheron is at it again on the outdoor circuit. At Judson's second outdoor meet of the season, the Cougar Classic hosted by SIU-Edwardsville, Sheron competed in two individual events, and one relay event.
In the 200 m event, Sheron finished in 4th place out of 38 runners. His time was clocked at 21.84. The leading runner set the pace at 21.14. But for Sheron, the 21.84 time is a new school record for the outdoor 200 m event.
In the 100 m event, Sheron was at it again. Sheron's time was a 10.74 which was tied with a runner from the University of Missouri. But with the adjusted time, Sheron clocked in at 10.736, while the runner from Missouri, Robert Hines, finished at 10.737. Sheron was awarded the first place victory by 0.001. The mark also ties a Judson school record for the outdoor event with Ian Wiggan, who posted the time last year.
In the 4 x 100 relay, Sheron and his teammates finished in 6th place out of 9 teams.
Among other events, Chase Ashcraft and Jayden Gumbs placed 14th and 15th in the 400 m event. Chase Porsche was 13th in the 3000 m event.
In the lone field event, Wendell Singleton placed 9th in the long jump.
