Eagles Net First Conference Win
Davenport-IA, On Saturday our Eagles were traveling to St. Ambrose University to play their second conference match of the season. After falling short in their first conference encounter, the Judson Men's tennis team looked to start a winning streak ahead of the conference tournament.
Starting off strong, Judson was able to win on all three courts, convincingly taking the doubles point. Niel Hentrich and Javier Sanchez had an impressive showing only dropping on game in their 6:1 victory at number three doubles.
Florian Koppitsch and Brock Dawson managed to win their game at number 2 6:3 giving the Eagles the doubles point. The strong doubles play was rounded out by Josh Bavich and Chadd Kerrigan, winning 6:2 at the number 1 spot.
Going into singles, there were no breaks for Judson, first off was Niel Hentrich winning 6:0 6:0 at number 6 singles. Followed up by two dominant victories by Cesar Otondo Villafan and Joshua Bavich, Judson went up 4:0 clinching the win for the day already.
Keeping it rolling Judson managed to get two more wins at 4 and 2 singles through two solid performances by Florian Koppitsch and Nicolas Donoso.
Battling injury, Judson had to retire at number 1 singles, giving St. Ambrose their lone point of the day.
The Eagles look forward to hosting Oliver Nazarene at home on Tuesday, with Senior day celebrations being planned on site at Crystal Lake Racket Club.
